we use so many abbreviations here that i thought a list might help people who are unaware of their meanings (not everyone here is or was a jw).
some are related to internet use and some are specific to jws.
so feel free to add to the list.. jwd = this website = jehovahs-witness-discussion.

if woman are the weaker ones(for lack of better words) why is it that they seem to be the ones that mostly believe before their husbands?????
?.
There are a LOT of women that are from very abusive backgrounds that come into the Org. Very codependent....

the jw's use the prohecy of daniel etc to get to 607 as the date jerusalem fell.
i know the jews accept 587 as the correct date.
so how do they view the calculation of the prophecy, of 'ol king neb and babylon etc?.
Better question: how do ultra orthodox Jews view blood transfusions?

good morning friends,.
i just wanted to share with all of you the joy i am experiencing knowing that i will be attending the long awaited d.c, next week.
what a wonderful experience it will be to be able to sit with all of the loving and faithul delegates at this convention.
Wow...the only thing that would make this whole deal "funner," if I was going, is if they reworked my circumcision: with no pain killer....

for me, every (other) saturday was magazine day.
the only marked date on the calendar was the memorial.. the nature scenes were ok when they had a nature theme.
i think the calendar is too small, boxes not big enough to write in..
Here is something odd:
My memory of "things JW" is fading. I was trying to think of one "kingdom song" at work the other day and could not think of one.
The only thing I can remember about the calanders is the scene of Christians leaving Jeruselem after 67.
My JW association seems like it was decades ago and it has only been four and a half years. It is like a very, very bad memory.
However, when someone calls on our line off our site, the JW slang expressions come back instantly: like a second language...it is so wierd....
Take care all,

at your most "spiritual", did you believe everything that was taught----even if you didn't quite understand it all?
Drew,
Are you SURE you were walking in and out of a Kingdom Hall?

This questions covers a large area:
Do I believe in Satan and the demons?
Yes.
Do I believe they are the "force" behind occult practices?
Yes.
Can they have an influence in indiviual lives?
Yes.
Is this interaction between spirit/flesh, mainly, by "invitation?"
Yes.
Is there "something" to the personality traits attached to the Zodiac?
Yes.
Do I engage in a pursuit of those practices and teachings involved in what we call "the occult?"
No.

The peak of my JW spirituality occurred in the last discussion I had with the Elders in Monett: the one where I was threatened with being df'ed for apostasy. It was a forty year climb to reach the point of placing Truth above Agreement, a clear conscience above loyalty to the WT.
And, here we are.....

check out what i just read in the july 07 readers digest pages 108-109 :.
"why do we say cheers when we clink our glasses?
the word cheer comes from the latin word face or countenance and originally referred to any facial expression, cheerful or otherwise.
Because I so dis-regard the "Memorial" I have daydreamed of going and, on recieving the cup, raising it high and saying: "Cheers to the memory of the Judge!"
I have wondered, in the JW mind, which would be the worst sin:
Saying "cheers."
Partaking.
Making fun of the Judge.
Confessing my sins,

anytime i hear one of my family members or any other jw say the phrase "the truth" in a sentence it makes my blood boil.
christians of different denominations may ask each other: .
"how long have you been a christian?".
A couple of years ago, my wife started using the term "The Lie" to describe the teachings of the JWs.
Kinda funny,
